Rip.fun turns digital card ripping into a social game, blending collectibles, community, and crypto into one playful platform.
About the project
Turning Nostalgia Into a Modern Platform
Rip.fun set out to bring the thrill of card ripping into the Web3 world. Inspired by retro games and Pokémon-style collecting, the team wanted a platform that felt playful, nostalgic, and instantly recognizable. They came to us with a vision, a few brand colors, and the idea of a pixel-art identity. We transformed that starting point into a full product experience, creating an ecosystem that feels unique, approachable, and true to the fun at its core.
Challanges
Turning a Playful Vision
Into a Usable Product
Rip.fun began as a playful idea with fragments of identity, a pixel-art direction, a few colors, and the ambition to capture the energy of retro collecting. But ideas alone do not make a product. The challenge was to transform this loose vision into a functional platform that felt unique yet approachable. It had to balance nostalgia with modern usability, playful branding with consistent design rules. More than just building screens, the task was to turn creative chaos into a clear and scalable product identity.
Outcome
The outcome was a platform that captured the same excitement players remember from opening Pokémon packs as kids. We designed a product that feels playful and social at its core, complete with a battle pass system that keeps users engaged over time. The look and feel were crafted to be something people would be proud to share, amplifying rip.fun’s presence across social platforms. To bring the vision to life, we built a custom 3D pack-opening animation in WebGL, a feature that delivers the thrill of ripping a pack and revealing your cards directly inside the app.
